Sexy men reading books? To you? Does that sound like a great way to spend a Friday?
Yeah, I thought so too.
The Carte Noire Readers is actually a British coffee company site, and their tagline is "for a more seductive coffee break".
They have filmed British actors Greg Wise, Joseph Fiennes, Dominic West, and Dan Stevens reading passages from various books, such as Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South and Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. You can watch the men read and listen to their delicious voices, which I think increases the intimacy of the experience.
But wait, there's more! If you click on Podcast you can select from about a dozen audio readings from a dozen different actors. I am not usually a fan of audiobooks, but these lovely British male voices managed to change my mind, at least for the span of the reading.
I love when they start out by asking, "Are you sitting comfortably? Good, then I'll begin." How solicitous! They are concerned about my comfort! And how can I feel guilty about this indulgence when I'm catching up on classic literature at the same time?
So go, enjoy. And if it inspires your writing today, even better. Then come back and tell us which was your favorite. Or if you have suggestions of who you would love to read to you, tell us that. Maybe we can create a "sexy men reading books" wish list, just in case.
I'd like to hear Johnny Depp, ala Cap'n Jack, reading...anything!

Oooh, good choice. I would agree with that one!
And I'll add Alan Rickman. I've been intoxicated by his voice for a long time!

Oh, swoon! Alan Rickman could read Shel Silverstein poetry and make me...uh...yeah, well...you know!
Do they have a request line? ;-)

LOL, I've been a fan of Alan Rickman's voice for a very long time. In fact, I based one of my villains on him, primarily because of the way he talks. :)
I don't KNOW if they have a request line. They should!
