I love to look at my blog stats, to see when people show up, and which pages they visit.
But even more fun is looking at the search terms they use to find my site. Here are a few of the most recent ones:
- An insect who knows how to wish upon a star – This tickles me, because it feels like it wasn't the first phrase that was used. Or maybe I'm projecting. There are times when you can type in the exact sequence of words to locate that one thing that eludes your brain cells. And just so you don't have to look this up, they were searching for my beloved "Jiminy Cricket". Okay, can't think of him singing that song or I'll start boo hooing again.
- Thigh high booted goddess of war – I'm wondering if this female marvel actually has a name and the searcher couldn't remember it. Unfortunately now *I* want to know who she is, so I may have to go searching too. This landed on a post where I discussed boots, but I don't HAVE thigh high boots (yet), and I am pretty sure I'm not qualified to be a goddess of war (yet).
- Crickets in the bathtub – I happened to mention Jiminy in this post titled "Cricket in the Bathtub". I talked about how trying to get a cricket out of the bathtub was impossible, just like trying to force a story to go the direction you preplanned for it when it is intent on going elsewhere. This is the most frequently searched term in my stats, and I feel bad because I'm sure people are hoping for a solution with this issue, and instead I'm talking about wrestling a plot into submission.
- Character goals – This is searched a LOT. It makes me happy that one of my writing posts is actually being sought out by folks looking for writing advice. And if there's a different interpretation, I don't want to hear it. I like my rich fantasy life the way it is.
- I hate Jessica Fletcher – Who knew people would be hating on Jessica Fletcher? Unless. . .maybe it's a support group for all the criminals she busted with her clever ways and trusty typewriter. It's the only possible answer I can come up with.
- Mad at my muse Endora – This baffled me because I hadn't really thought I was sharing Endora with anyone else. And then it hit me. All those times Endora disappeared in a puff of smoke. . . She was consorting with other writers! All this time she made me think we were writing exclusively. That witch.
What funny search term phrases do you have? Or maybe you have some you've used to find something. Let us know what they are!
Also, I want to let everyone know we have a special guest tomorrow. It's Jack from Robyn Carr's Virgin River series of books, and I think you'll enjoy some of the secrets he spills about being a bartender in a small town. One lucky commenter will win a copy of Wild Man River.
My hits are all over the place. One of the most common - and don't worry, I won't replicate it here - is for a p0rn site. It's name is remarkably similar to the title of a blog post I did. In their context, it sounds like mother-daughter action.
Ick!
I get a lot of sweet searches too. My favorite are the readers looking for advice to their college-bound daughters. :)

Jan, that is gross! I haven't had any disgusting ones yet, thank goodness, but who knows what will happen in the future. I'll have to keep that in mind when I do my titles!
And that is definitely sweet about looking for advice for college-bound daughters--I'm sure you had some awesome words to share with them.

I've typed some interesting things into Google looking for images to accompany Revenge blogs. Especially the hottie blogs. LOL! Some images should come with a warning before they pop up on your screen!
Just checked the revenge and one of the last searches for us used the term "sin proudly". LOL! Makes perfect sense.

Terri, you're right -- wish the results DID come with a warning! LOL I tried to be careful when doing the Hottie searches just for that reason. I wasn't sure I'd have enough brain bleach.
"Sin proudly" is an awesome one. Maybe it should be part of the official Revenge tattoo!

I once did a blog on Rais Hamidou, an Algerian regency era pirate. A short while later, a Russian submarine with the same name was in the news. Suddenly, I was very popular in Russian. Thanks for sharing these. They're hilarious.

Clarissa, that is hilarious. And it's kinda cool that a submarine took on the name of a pirate. :)
I'm fascinated at how many places around the world find my site. I hope I'm providing global entertainment. LOL
